Dongfang Electronics Co., Ltd. (DFE) is one of the Chinese companies that first got into the field of integrated energy service. Based on the new stage of “dual- carbon” goal, DFE “cherishes environment and saves resources” as the vision, fully implements the concept of ecology, strictly follows the new development concept, and makes the plan of dual-carbon industry by relying on lean management system. Giving full play to its advantages such as staying close to the energy market, and owning smooth and efficient service channels, DFE applies new technologies, e.g., cloud, big data, IoT, etc., continues to expand, strengthen and optimize industries related to integrated energy service, promotes carbon emission reduction in all communities, and makes due efforts and contributions to fulfilling the national strategy of “carbon peaking, carbon neutralization”.
I. About the project
In Guangzhou Pearl Industrial Park, there is a national key R&D project called “Research and Demonstration of Key Technologies of Power Distribution System for Multi-user Interaction in Industrial Park”, in which DFE participates, is one of the first key R&D projects in the 13th Five-year Plan in China. The project aims to develop key technologies and equipment of integrated energy power distribution system, and build a demo project of integrated planning and design, coordinated control and intelligent dispatching. This project was exhibited in the “13th Five-Year” Sci-Tech Innovation Achievements Exhibition” as the sole integrated energy national key project. Relying on this project, the company’s innovative R&D achievements and core technologies have been evaluated as “leading in the world” by Academician Zhou Xiaoxin. The innovative achievements made by DFE have been applied in more than 70 projects in China, which have produced direct economic benefits of more than one billion CNY, indirect economic benefits of about 670 million CNY, and social benefits of about 320 million CNY in energy efficiency and emission reduction, cost reduction and efficiency increase, and delaying power grid investment.
II. Forward-looking and representative feature
The research results of the project play a leading and exemplary role in promoting large-scale application of distributed renewable energy, providing technical support and key equipment for the planning, construction and operation of the future integrated energy power distribution system, improving the technical level of China’s energy equipment, and promoting the society sustainability.
After four years of efforts by more than 300 experts and scholars, the project has obtained over 40 patents and developed 10+ products, thus receiving great praise from many officials and experts from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Energy Administration. The project will build one park-level energy management system and six enterprise-level energy management systems, which will be interconnected with more than 30 sets of distributed resources such as CCHP, DCS, distributed photovoltaic, ice storage, differential pressure power generation, electric energy storage, and gas boilers, so as to realize the panoramic perception monitoring of multiple energy sources such as “cooling/heating/electricity/gas/water” of six large enterprises that account for 80% of the electricity consumption in the demo park. Through multi-energy coordination and optimal dispatching, the demo park can fully absorb 26MW photovoltaic energy and more than 80% of the electricity in the demo park can be used by itself. The success of Guangzhou Pearl Industrial Park project has attracted attention at home and abroad. Liu Deshun, Director of the Department of Science and Technology of the National Energy Administration, Zhai Yongping of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Caroline of the German Energy Agency (DENA), and Shi Yubo of the China Energy Research Association respectively led a team to Pearl Industrial Park in Conghua for on-site investigation and technical exchange.
III. Effect of improvement
In terms of economic benefits, the project realizes the complete consumption of 26MW photovoltaic power in the demo park, with more than 80% of the electricity use in the demo park generated by the park on its own. The total energy cost of park users has decreased by 27.8%, the electricity cost decreased by 31.2%, the heating cost decreased by 24.1%, and each kilowatt-hour cost decreased by 19.6%. By means of user’s direct electricity purchase, distributed photovoltaic, user side energy storage, AC energy efficiency, energy cascade utilization and other means, the park has saved more than 6.7 million CNY in annual electricity expenditure. The peak load is reduced by 20% through multi-level linkage demand response of the superior power grid, the park, enterprises and equipment.
In terms of environmental benefits, the project realizes complete consumption of renewable energy above 26MW and reduces CO2 emissions by 16,000 tons. The total energy consumption of users is reduced by 14.5%, the energy consumption per unit output value is reduced by 6.4%, and the energy consumption per unit output is reduced by 5.3%. This helps users achieve “dual control” of energy consumption and helps build a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient industrial park. The electricity consumption characteristics in the park are friendlier to the power grid. The proportion of electricity consumption in peak hours is reduced by 52.3%, the proportion of electricity consumption in normal hours is reduced by 5.3%, and the proportion of electricity consumption in valley hours is increased by 43.8%. This promotes the peak shaving and valley filling of the power grid and facilitates construction of a new power system.
In terms of social benefits, the latest achievements such as renewable energy development, smart grid application, and advanced energy use mode are utilized in the project construction, which plays a positive role in promoting relevant technological progress and driving industrial benefits. There are more than 15,000 industrial parks in China. As China’s energy revolution continues, the project-related technical results have wonderful market prospect and great significance for application, which will help realize the “carbon peak and carbon neutral” goals!
IV. Project management model
DFE accurately identifies customer needs and desires by focusing on customer service, relying on the strategy of “three leading, one first-class” and taking the refined and ultimate version system as the guarantee. During the 14th Five-year Plan period, DFE will adhere to the concept of green development, practice the dual-carbon goal, and plan to build DFE Intelligent Technology Park into the first “zero carbon intelligent industrial park” in China. The project will build distributed roof photovoltaic, battery energy storage, charging pile, magnetic suspension central air-conditioning, intelligent distribution room, intelligent buildings and other energy supply and consumption facilities in the park. Based on the DFE Green Cloud intelligent energy management platform, through digital technologies such as source network load storage, integrated optimization control of cooling, heating, electricity and gas, we can achieve fine control of energy supply and consumption, maximize the consumption of distributed photovoltaic renewable energy power generation, effectively reduce the energy cost of the park, and achieve an annual reduction of 2,650 tons of carbon emissions. At the same time, DFE will continue to actively implement national policies, carry out research on carbon asset management and other related fields, deepen the technology application and product R&D of “electricity for carbon”, provide customers with more types of energy trading services such as green card trading and carbon trading, mobilize the endogenous power of energy conservation and carbon reduction in the whole society, serve the integrated development of the carbon trading right market and the energy use right market, and comprehensively serve the energy conservation and emission reduction in the whole society. By implementing low-carbon green projects such as parks, factories, campuses, urban complexes, shore power, etc., DFE can reduce 7.153 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions for the society every year, and can generate economic benefits of more than 300 million CNY every year.
